Here's another hard fact: Outside of the US there's something called THE REST OF THE WORLD, you know, where billions of people live!! So even if Resident Evil makes 1/5 of it's money domestically, I guess that speaks for itself!

This isn't a new concept, and it's actually pretty true. When they say "international audiences", they mean China/Korea/ect.. Unlike the Europe, the market in Asia has only recently been perused by Hollywood.
The idea isn't that worldwide audiences are dumber, it's that they have a different language and culture. Character dramas are usuallly harder to translate across cultures, but everyone gets action and explosions. Keep in mind that China's top 10 selling movies includes Transformers 1 & 2.

I didn't like the enemies in Die Hard 5. They were bland & forgettable. Roman Varshavsky (who did the voice for Vladimir Makarov) should have played the main villian.

Well, it sucks, that movies like this make more money ona global scale since everyone knows the franchise. I disliked the movie for all the reasons you guys mentioned. but i also have a lot of friends - here in germany - and they really, really liked the movie. geez, i don't get it

Well at least Die Hard 2 retained the elements that were good in the first one. McClane alone, in one space forced to resolve everything with limited resources, xmas eve etc. And it's all down to him, this ordinary guy like anyone else. Plus in Die Hard 2 he was up against the real deal (proper terrorists) as opposed to just a group of thieves. 3 4 and 5 just got retarded....

Maybe because its plot is so full of holes there is no way to apply any suspension of disbelief.
Granted each of the sequels seem to get sillier & sillier in this way but "back in the day" Die Hard was such a well made film, the cartoonish direction that DH 2 took pissed off a lot of fans of the original.
Now it "fits" in the direction the franchise decided to go.
