A lot of Marines that are from the East Coast are sent to Camp Pendleton in Oceanside, CA. My grandpa was a Marine from South Boston and he was sent to Oceanside. He probably stuck around after he left the Coprs. Makes sense that a Bostonian would find his way to Oside.
