The break-up of the Bell System, by a non-American judge, was a terrible tragedy. We lost not only the world's best telepnone company (AT&T and the local Bell Cos.) but the world's greatest R&D organization, Bell Telephone Laboratories.

Reminds me of the days when things worked. We had Northwestern Bell--one of the highest quality Bell operating companies. Unfortunately now you can always tell when you're in their territory-- hardly anything works. I miss Northwestern Bell!

Back then America was a place of PRIDE and INNOVATION and QUALITY. Made in America was the world standard -- and Bell products worked. Run over a Bell phone in a 18-wheeler and chances are it would still be working.
Today, America was long ago sold out. There is nothing left to be proud of.
