Nikon D7000 Test 4 - The Necrophiles

To test the Nikon D7000, photographer Robert Giordano shot some footage of The Necrophiles at Monterey in Fort Lauderdale. He used a Nikkor 35mm f1.8 lens. Exposure was f1.8/30 and ISO 1600. White balance was set to 5000K. Monterey is a fairly dark little bar just south of State Road 84 on US 1. There was no stage lighting yet the D7000 was able to capture the scene quite well with only the available light.

There isn't much distortion in the audio because the band wasn't overly loud. The D7000's built-in microphone isn't bad but the input level control is very limited. An external recorder such as the Zoom H2 or Zoom H4N, is definitely needed for shooting anything with audio above 80 decibels. The ability to connect an external, stereo microphone, combined with the superior quality of the 1080p video in low light is what makes the Nikon D7000 a leap ahead the Nikon D90 and even a step above the Canon 7D.
