http://www.HannesTool.com Johannes Michelsen Introduces the new HannesTool woodturning lathe tools.
Johannes Michelsen has been making lathe turned woodhats for 20 years and for 14 years before that all kinds of other woodturnings.
In all that time he could not help but ponder what would make this a better experience. And the answer is a better tool a tool with serious ergonomic considerations and intentions.
And that is this tool the HannesTool.
- Large handle 22.5" long with TPE molded on1″od aluminum
- Small Handle 20″ long is TPE molded on ¾" aluminum tube with ½" id
- Both handles have lead shot for vibration damping.
- 1 1/4″ is for spindle roughing, usually in a shorter version of the large handle
- 1" steel used for roughing spindles and face plate items
- ¾" steel for big cuts roughing and shaping
- 5/8" for basic shaping
- Small handle 17" with ½" piece of steel for final shaping
- Final cut is accomplished with a piece of 3/8" also in the small handle.
- Inserts are used for accommodating steel smaller than hole in tube
The handle has these 3 lobes. The shape of the Thermo-plastic handle is very important, the main ergonomic consideration is this unique triangular shape. Between the 3 lobes are 3 grooves, one of the grooves between these lobes is for the pads of your knuckles, the second groove is for your finger tips and the third is for your thumb.
