Hey mulletzach i doubt you no what your talking about.. because a 1979 trans am isnt completely orginal if it has a 455 the last year the 455 was produced was 1976.

He's right about the power. I own a 403 and a 400 both original. The 400 has better top end the 403 feels like it has more torque. The 400 came out with less restrictions aswel. But an exhaust and dunp the polution gear they are pretty impresive. In fact I like my 403 better than my 400!

@mrkittycat110 Trans am is a package on the firebird model just as Super Sport on the Camaro or R/T on the the Charger. Hope that helps

an olds 403 (Automatic trans ams only) has way less torque than a pontiac 400 that came with the manual. this guy isn't the smartest
