At the Varkala Papanasam beach in Varkala, the vavu bali rites which began on Thursday evening continued uninterrupted on Friday. Hundreds of persons performed the rituals under the supervision of priests and took a bath in the sea.
It is believed that ' bali ' on Karkidaka vavu will appease spirits of the ancestors and bring good fortunes and prosperity. The rites are performed according to the Hindu custom and usually, it is performed in a Theertha ghat. Necessary arrangements at the various locations will be made by the Devaswom Board authorities/the Viswa Brahmana Sabha/the Viswa Hindu Parishad.
