'Stand Up to Cancer' Telethon 2010

Details about the 2010 ''Stand Up to Cancer'' telethon were released on August 19, 2010. The event will feature a star-studded lineup of celebrities who have battled cancer and others who want to help raise awareness and money for cancer research. The one-hour telethon will air at 8pm Eastern on Friday, September 10, 2010, simultaneously and commercial-free on all major broadcast networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC and Fox. Several cable networks will also show ''Stand Up to Cancer,'' including HBO, Showtime and VH1.

News anchors Katie Couric, Diane Sawyer and Brian William will host the 2010 ''Stand Up to Cancer'' event. The fundraising telethon will feature appearances by several celebrities who have battled cancer, including Lance Armstrong, Christina Applegate, Robin Roberts, Michael C. Hall, Fran Drescher and Maura Tierney.

Several musical performances are also planned for the 2010 ''Stand Up to Cancer'' event, including those by Stevie Wonder, Martina McBride, Natasha Beddingfield, Queen Latifah, Dave Stewart and Aaron Neville.

Stand Up to Cancer is being produced by movie and TV producer Laura Ziskin - herself a cancer survivor. She also produced the 2008 ''Stand Up to Cancer'' telethon, which raised more than $100 million for cancer research. Ziskin told the Associated Press: "On Sept. 10, we'll send a resounding message: We can cure cancer. It's going to take guts, brains and the ongoing support of the public, but we can do this."
