  • people are sick of the constant lies/falsehoods/manipulations of the mass media! There is no such thing as a country with a free press- it is only a free press to those that control one- the fat cat multi-billionaire media businessmen! They refuse to have a free press because they are lying/manipulating the people, after all if what they are selling you is the truth, why deny equal access- a free press? They have a vested self-financial interest in lying to the people as it is more profitable!!!

  • screw 'occupy wall street'!!! People are greedy fat pigs- who borrowed other peoples money then didn't pay it back- that's why we have a recession! If the people who borrowed it had paid it back, the institutions that were left holding the debt (triple A rated, incidentally), would not have been bankrupted! Full stop!

  • Can you show a specific example of the media forcing somebody to do something, or are you just making up your own stories?

Oh I never said there was nothing wrong with the media. I agree the media spins bullshit to meet their own agenda: Michael Moore=perfect example. Do I like it? Of course not.

But now we are off topic, we were arguing that there was/nt a freedom of press, but now you are arguing that the media spins stories and coerces people. Youve just changed the argument.

  • Their customers ARE paying voluntarily. If they dont like the product, they can stop buying it, then they will stop getting "screwed."

It doesnt matter if the media lie, it doesnt prevent others from telling their side of the story, or telling the truth.

I dont understand how you can argue this, you obviously like Michael Moore, he is quite obviously freely expressing his views.

Unless you can show me government censorship, there is a freedom of press.

  • I am talking about the people they go after and their customers- not their employees!

Their customers are told they are paying to 'be informed'- when in actual fact they are being sold perverted and often self-serving lies/falsehoods/assassinations! Anything and everything- except the truth- which is why they refuse a free press!! Media is just a business- and not a profession. It is perfectly legal for media to lie to their customers!

Their customers ARE being screwed out of their money!

  • 'no legal power over anyones rights'- which is why they harass/bully people into submission! In a democracy you don't have to do a damn thing anybody wants- no matter who they are or what they are! If they cannot show you a law that says you have to do what they want- you don't have to- no matter what!

How come they don't treat their own families/businesses the same way? If there is nothing wrong with what they do, how come everyone hates them? Media-types are universally hated! Rightly!!!

  • Freedom of press means guaranteeing media fatcats the right to create and follow their own agendas, since media fatcats are free people too. People do not have to work for them or buy their products.

These fatcats may have control in their own companies, but they have no legal power over anyones rights.

  • Yes, getting fired is another option, or quitting, going freelance, or going to a competitor, or working in another industry.

An individual journalist has no right to be free of their employer's agenda, nor should they. You choose to work for a media instituation, you follow the terms of your employment. No one is forcing you to be there.

Expose corruption? What do you think Michael Moore believes he is doing?

The media screws their customers out of money? Their customers pay voluntarilly.

  • Other options? Like what? Getting fired?

Media businessmen create their own agendas whilst claiming to 'act in the public interest'- by lying/manipulating the public!

Expose corruption? Nobody is as corrupt as they are! No one! They are the most corrupt business in the world! Name someone! They lie and cheat every single day, they harass/bully/intimidate people into submission- often going after their families (also children) and friends! They screw their customers out of money every day!

  • You're really confused. If someone agrees to "follow a corporate agenda" as terms of employment, that is a free choice, no one has forced them to do it, they have other options.

Preventing media corporations from creating their own agendas would be denying them freedom, since it is their choice what they do. What if their corporate agenda was to expose corruption in government and business?

...No Im not insane, remember what happened to world news in the phone hacking scandal?

  • You work for a media business? You sound like a journalist!!! LMAO!

Their employees are essentially hired to follow the corporate agenda or they get fired! No one is forcing them to deny equal access/treatment either!

People are NOT 'perfectly free to voice their own objections and opinions'- that would be a free press! How can they when they do not have the right to do so- they are denied the right to equal access/treatment?

Sue a multi-billion dollar oppressive Media co.? Are you insane?

  • what im saying is that if the "media businessmen" actually own the media, and they do what they want with their own possessions, then how is that not free press? No one is forced to work in their organisations.

People who are attacked by the media are perfectly free to voice their own objections and opinions, they could blog, tweet or go to a competing media brand. If the media breaches their rights, they are free to take the case to a civil court.
