This video shows an examplary usage scenario for the FrogPad one-handed keyboard: creating a circuit diagram with Cadsoft Eagle.
With my left hand do I type the commands on the FrogPad, in the right hand do I hold the mouse to draw lines and place the parts.

With a QWERTY keyboard such a workflow is impossible, because you either have to do everything with the mouse (select tool, draw) or you have to switch with your 'mouse hand' between mouse and keyboard all the time.
With a FrogPad I can leave my left hand on the FrogPad, my right hand on the mouse, select the tools and type the commands with the FrogPad, and draw the lines and place the components with my mouse, that's an optimal workflow.

  • Have you tried dvorak one hand layout? Which do you think is better in typing speed

    , and hand strain?

  • @grassroot4000 my intention to buy the FrogPad was having a small portrable keyboard I can take with my tablet. So I didn't tried any QWERTY keyboard style based layouts, like the dvorak which still requires a normal keyboard. The difference might be small, but the FrogPad, because of one-handed optimized hardware! should make it easier. It also places the whole keyboard (numers, symbols, ...) in the small device, with the dvorak one handed you still require the large keyboard.

  • can the frogpad be used for games such as world of warcraft? In these games you may be required to press the wasd keys at the same time as spacebar in any combination. another task is to press shift and number 4 at same time. is this possible? Thank you in advance, your product is cool :)

  • @Shitsandgiggle no, sadly not. The current FrogPad does not support multiple simultaneous key presses. It's a restriction of their software which is necessary to comfortably type with the FrogPad. They must add a game mode, but sadly haven't done it.

  • Does it work as a regular keyboard? That is to say, are drivers needed for it to function or does the OS recognize it as any other keyboard?

  • It does work as a regular keyboard, and uses the HID driver in Windows. That's why the USB FrogPads also work in BIOS or DOS, without windows installed or running.

  • Thank you, that is exactly what i was wondering.

  • Wow. It's a shame Frogpads are so expensive, and I don't live in the US or GB so I must ship it in. I hope to find a real cheap one on ebay or amazon.

Frogpads are awesome, thanks for showing us!

  • yeah that's the one. thanks a lot ! you've been a great help !

  • It costs between $130 (USB) and $150 (BT), but at the moment they are sold out, so you'll have to wait for the new batch, buy a used one or ask if they still have one for you.

If you use the mouse with the right hand, then better get a left handed FrogPad.

Ergonomic keyboard, which are split in the middle? I don't have one. I have a normal keyboard. And I think such a split keyboard is only good if you touch type a lot, but not for normal use. But as I said, I don't have one, so I may be wrong
