GM to Build $359M Chevy Volt Engine Plant in Michigan

General Motors (GM) has announced plans are underway for a $359 million plant that will build four-cylinder engines for the Chevy Volt electric car and other models. The Flint, MI plant will provide 300 jobs, and is expected to produce more than 800 engines a day.

REMOVE THE GASOLINE ENGINE and it becomes an electric vehicle simple as that install the gasoline engine then it becomes a HYBRID.

Nice to know they'll be using OUR 25'000'000'000 DOLLARS to cover this $359M publicity plant. These big three run a deficit; and this is just another horrid publicity stunt. The volt can't even go over small inclines, and now they can only irk about 40 miles for $30'000? PEOPLE, a self-made electric conversion to a car gets at least 60-80, SIXTY to EIGHTY made in someone's GARAGE. And it costs less than 30-thousand for a piece of crap? Lawl. GM = FAIL.

yea, but you can even do it in your own garage. i saw on tv, teenagers doing conversions in their spare time.

i think the bail out money would better serve the electric car manufacturers like tesla and zenn. cause all they do make are electric cars!

rick wagoner this is the guy who want's out money, because he made some bad decitions. what about all the profits, over 100 years of profits they can't handle it. they don't want to use their money they want to use our money, casue if the emonomy fails, the will blame the economy

even the volt makes sense of exxon... it still uses gas and the range is a joke. you can convert any car to an electric car for 8 thousand bucks and it will have more than twice the range.
