Countess Elizabeth Báthory (August 7, 1560 -- August 21, 1614), was a Hungarian countess from the renowned Báthory family. Possibly the most prolific serial killer in history, she is remembered as the "Blood Countess" and as Bloody Lady of Čachtice, after the castle near Trenčín, at that time in Royal Hungary, where she spent most of her life.

She and four collaborators were accused of torturing and killing hundreds of girls, one witness attributing to them over 600 victims, though she was only convicted on 80 counts. In 1610 she was imprisoned in Čachtice Castle, where she remained bricked in her room until her death four years later. She was never formally tried in court.

Its was rumored the Countess bathed in the blood of virgins to retain her youth, is now called the Blood Countess and Countess Dracula.

This painting is oil on wood and measures 14" x 11" and though there is no title or signature, it is without doubt a portrait of Báthory Erzsébet, as it compares remarkably in dress and countenance with the few existent paintings of this woman, the bloody lady.

  • For any mortal, we will not tell the story, nor the message of the dark rider. Hail the rest of us, hail all people that will be sacrificed for the greater good.

  • @KingGabiBalan ok this is not the 1600s so no one cares of you're noble blood or not anymore. And also yes, she did kill a child. A 12 year old girl named Pola. If you're proud of being related to Erzsebet, you could for one, spell her Hungarian name correctly, and also have the decency to do a little research on her. I am as well related to her through Franz Nadasdy and I have done my research. But I'm not gonna get in anyone's face in 2012 yelling that I'm of noble blood.

  • @danjudet they wouldn't have just randomly made that big of an accusation without sufficient evidence over money. And her rank was too high. If that was the case, why didn't they accuse her in the beginning? She did it. She even wrote about the ways she tortured these girls in her diary. And I know this is a late response but I had to reply to your comment. The king didnt care about those girls, peasant deaths were common, but because of owing her money, he convicted her of it.

  • @BATORY021 but it is pronounced right in ancient Hungarian. XD And I agree with your statement btw. This reply is REALLLY late. XD

  • I tried to keep them away but their taste of blood is too stromg. I can't stop it.
