  • Haha this commercial underestimated Harper's disaster. He actually gave us the largest deficit in Canadian history. He's been an absolue travesty, wonder how he clings to power?

  • They sure called it... Prophetic

  • @fringelife Called Majority government.......:)

  • @Cnd1867 I"m the same myself, as far as my range of friends. I think it's in a large part for the reason that I don't tie myself to parties / leaders, as much as to principle. Harper scares me because he attacks the middle class too much....although he tries to make it look like he isn't. Anything that creates debt ends up being an attack on the middle class, esp when the tax cut focus is corp. HST is a huge burden on the middle class...basically a transfer of money from personal to corp.

  • @Cnd1867 Sorry I said the thing about labelling. I'm just so used to Harper supporters doing that...especially when i mention Martin. Personally, I preferred Martin out of the 3 you mention. Yes, he was brutal in his cuts to slash the deficit from minus $50 billion to create a surplus in 2 years....but that's what it took He surely was not liked in the short term when he did it. I can't pin any scandals on him either...although he ended up taking the brunt of Chretien's crap.

  • @paulfornasier Who ever said I was going to label you. I think out of my friends, even as a conservative, 25% are NDP, 20% are green, 15% are liberals, 20% are conservatives and 20% don't care. I actually partly agree with you there, I think preston would've made for a more principle Prime Minister, unfortunately Canadians voters go for politics more than principle as characterized by Chretien, Martin, and Harper getting elected

  • @Cnd1867 AND let's get this straight before you take the usual tack of labelling me. I'm NOT a Liberal suppporter. I am just looking to have a fairly balanced govt that is FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE...as first priority. Preston Manning probably would have kept us on track better than Harper has done. Preston was much more a man of principle than Harper. Harper is too much of an opportunist....and he plays politics way too dirty and underhanded for my tastes. He's a difficult person to trust..

  • @Cnd1867 AND...who will be responsible for paying the maintenance on the additional 40% debt when Harper will supposedly be done creating debt?? The middle class of course...LOL. Who do you think now carries the vast amount of our tax burden these days??? AND what will happen when interest rates go up....as they are projected to rise?? MY bet...the govt will say that they did not expect them to rise and cause a problem....LOL Just watch... We are in RECORD debt territory and rising now...

  • @Cnd1867 The numbers are NOT absolute nonsense. Check out the research on the price of tax cuts. Martin only cut taxes when the budget was BALANCED...LOL The price of the GST tax cuts alone is somewhere over about $12 billion per year. So..tell me..if my numbers are wrong..what are they??? You think govt tells you ALL the truth about what they are doing all the time?? What did Bush do in the US?? He did the exact same thing...he lowered taxes to satisfy his main support..it's politics..LOL

  • @paulfornasier Ya Harper should keep cutting corporate taxes, just like Chretien and Martin did in the 90's. Creating a proper atmosphere for businesses to invest in Canada is essential to economic recovery, which means lower unemployment which means higher tax revenue without raising taxes on the middle and lower classes. Those numbers are complete nonsense, most economists agree that cutting the right amount in corporate taxes actually increases revenue because of increased investment.
