  • She nicely finished up the conversation in the video. YES WE CAN make these changes!

  • This is the problem with the left.

They have a very strong totalitarian impulse.

Always striving to intervene in someone's personal life. You can't motivate people to change their behaviors without draconian interventions. Even then, the measures fail. Just look at the drug war.

If people want to be fat and lazy, so be it.

Give them the information so they can make an informed choice. After that, leave well enough alone.

  • When people started to associate smoking with death, that's when the attitude changed. The same thing is needed with food in this country. AND, we are a bad influence in the world. We exported heart disease to China. I predict this is the next frontier, and that government will find the incentive to begin to shift the paradigm.

  • There is far too much protein and meat emphasized in the USA, the portion sizes are obscene, the Sat and Trans Fat levels in foods should be regulated, some are just killer. Meat based diets are not just bad for the heart, they're bad for the environment (global warming), and bad for animals.

  • It's true, we could significantly lower heart disease in this country (death, pain, illness, lower health care costs, insurance premiums) if we look at it as a systemic problem and work on taking away the factors that contribute to it...lazy driving, fast food... create an infrastructure that encourages a plant based American Diet, looks down on driving everywhere and gorging on big macs and frappucinos and creates incentives for walking and cycling as a mode of transport.

  • I thought this was to be an interview of Charlie Rose talking to heart disease.
