This is my second material test, the first one was called "Wood" and is featured on my 2010 Showreel. In addition to the basic cube, I also used Paul Trenkler's Enterprise 'E'. I did a tiny bit of dispersion & distortion, some lens noise, and a fair amount of defocus. The marble tile material is from the 3ds Max standard library (it was before my Blender days), and I made the bump map by hand (although it doesn't show well in the video).

It's hard to see in the video, but 2.57 did an awesome job with the bump map compared to 2.56. The render times were about the same, 2:30ish per frame, but the bump map made a noticeable difference on the stills.
