Elysium

This is another short experimental video that my friends and I made for the "48 Hour Film Racing" contest. It was our second time doing a film contest but our first time participating in one of this nature.

Filmed on the Canon 7D

The theme we were assigned was "Time Travel." I wanted to stay from conventional time travel thinking and made something more minimalistic. Originally I didn't want any music involved. A friend, Andy Mitchell, approached me with a custom guitar track during the contest and I felt the music was extremely appropriate.

The mandatory items were:
Prop-Broom
Character-Mark Donnelly, Graphic Designer
Dialogue- "That's not right."

We screened this film August 7, 2011 along with many other talented filmmakers at the Denver Gothic theater.

Written/Edited/Directed by
Michael Johnson

Music by
Andy Mitchell

Starring
Brandon Koch
Brian Mason
Alyssa Hall

  • @harabek do you have a comeback for everything?

  • I R StoopiD

    Explain video please?

  • This looks great! I hope you guys did well!

  • Okay last time I'll try =P So elysium is basically a perfect world. Omitting explanations I have come to a few conclusions about the meaning: A) A perfect world is nothing w/o those you <3 and care about B) You make your own perfect world, you define what's perfect for you C) A perfect world is made by its inhabitants and not just the surroundings. Taking into account the T-travel/elysium also being a place for the dead: (2 of 'em are dead in "Heaven" and) regret going w/army? Did I get close?

  • Makes me wish that was just the trailer for a movie. I want more.... haha, oh well.

  • This was exceptional, better than I expected, though I haven't really seen much of your professional work outside of Machinima. I agree the music was quite appropriate. Question: was that really "Pete" talking?

  • @harabek I can't believe I wasn't already subscribed to you =\

  • That's a poor strategic location. Middle of an open field.
