Congressman Dale Kildee is an "Honorary Tribal Member"

Joe Somwick ("PR Guy Joe") , who spearheaded the propaganda campaign against Jack Abramoff and Michael Scanlon, is the son of former Saginaw Chippewa Chief Arnold Somwick, who worked with Congressman Dale Kildee to rewrite the tribe's constitution, which helped a group of non-Indians take over the tribe's government and businesses. The legislation they worked on together directed multi-million dollar settlements from the Indian Claims Commission to the non-Indian controlled Tribal Council and then rolled back federal oversight of that money. The money became the investment capital for gaming.
