From the Gold Muse, "Rocket-Award" Winning Director at PROMAX/BDA Africa 2007, Dhiren Lalkisson, comes a powerful and riveting drama.

Inspired by a true story, 12-year-old Samuel lives on a deteriorating farm, isolated from the rest of the world. Samuel's father is a paraplegic, who longs to be set free from his circumstances, is overcome by self-pity and does not have the psychological power to help himself. Samuel's mother has been taking care of his father for such a long time that she now feels her husband is just a burden to her. Due to psychological and emotional neglect, isolation, and having to witness severe spousal abuse at home, Samuel is filled with hatred toward his parents and especially toward his dad for not having a paternal relationship with him. He knows it is hard for them, but it is hard for him too.

  • Curious little video. It seemed like the re-enactment of a true story - from the director's childhood?

  • @rob251149 Yes, this short drama is inspired from my childhood... Director

  • “The sources of obsession are at once mundane and mysterious.” People who can tell their story usually manage to survive okay. Those who can’t usually survive too but their coping mechanism is more likely to be an obsession.

  • This short film depicts what happens to paraplegic people with such realism, which most people do not witness. I've witnessed such behaviour in real life where a friend would abuse his mother in a similar way. There is so much pain in life, from which we long to be set free. The first step to healing this hurt, is to open up and talk about it. Weldone. This is a touching and mature subject.

  • i think this video is dissgraceful seeing the abuse of a paraplegic man

  • I can understand the emotionnal powerless towards his husband but the father can't talk with his son - Also a paraplegic are enough strong for be able of moved up in his bed if he fall on the floor and after switch in his wheelchair.

One of my friend is paraplegic and the reality of paraplagic is negliged damaticly

But it's afilm I know. Why in 2007 this paraplegic had a wheelchair dated of 1960 ? They live in middle of nowhere and the government don't pay new wheechair ?

    It's sad SO SAD

  • I saw so much of myself in this.. thanks for making this, God bless you always.

  • SAMUEL

  • ME GUSTO ESTA PELÌCULA DE SAM

  • I'm gonna go cry now.
