On this day in 1971 {January 31st} the Temptations performed "Get Ready" on the CBS-TV program 'The Ed Sullivan Show'

Five years earlier on Feb. 26th, 1966 it entered Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart; eventually it peaked at #29 and spent 7 weeks on the Top 100

And on April 30th it reached #1 {for 1 week} on Billboard's Hot R&B Songs chart

Lead vocal was Eddie Kendricks

In 1970 Rare Earth covered it; their version peaked at #4 on the Top 100

RIP Mr. Kendricks {1939-1992} & Mr. Sullivan {1901-1974}
