I stopped by this crosswalk signal tonight just looking to catch a little incandescent 'fade' action but upon pushing the button and hearing that magical 'chung-chunk', I thought I was hallucinating. Sure enough, it did it again when the signals went from yellow to red. This video was shot around 2:15 AM to avoid stopping cars unnecessarily (and for no reason) and for minimal background noise.
I am positive this Eagle electromechanical signal controller is the only one left in Washington County and may very well be one of the last (if not the last) ones in the state. Turn up the volume and listen to the magic! You will notice in the un-cut segment that the controller 'chunks' numerous times without any change in signal indication. That's because this controller is capable of doing much more than this and is running on about the most basic setting it can. Those extra pins would be used for other approaches, if they were fitted.
There a re a few of these still with their original signals in Barberton, Ohio. any internal video of an eagle controller? Why does it have that different sound, than other EM's?

@V8FordTempo - There is another video of an Eagle controller like this one making sounds identical to it. My knowledge of EM controllers is fairly limited but I'm guessing the noise differences you're hearing is due to variations in the motor that changes the position of the cam.
