Well yes the motherboard can support upto PHENOM level..but the AMD X2 5000+ is designed for applications and not really quiet good when it comes to gaming performance the default speed of AMD X2 5000+ is 2.6ghz 1mb L2..but the AMD X2 7750 is 2.7ghz 1mb L2 2mb L3..it means if you use AMD X2 5000+ it will be 10% slower than the AMD X2 7750

The motherboard is design for Overclocking and that includes the Kuma processor and it can reach from 2.7ghz up to 3.8ghz OC is not a problem with this type of motherboard and processor and its very stable and maximizes the gaming performance specially when at 4gb of ram and additional videocard running at 1gb installed will increase power and performance on this motherboard..
