Nissan LEAF EV TEST DRIVE

This is a common question. However, doing this would be impractical. To charge the leaf's battery with a rooftop solar panel would take about a month of being parked outside. A more efficient option would be to cover the roof of your house with solar panels and generate electricity during the day. Then you can charge off of the grid at off peak hours, using the credits your solar panel used during the day. You can power your car and your house 100% emission free!

cool - just can't get why not to cover at least the top of the car with sun-recharging cells...

@justmadeup123 It is governed to 90 mph which is faster than my budget for speeding tickets. It is more than fast enough for California freeways. See the 2011 pikes Peak race results for uphill speed confirmation.

Do you know if Nissan has a swap battery system for this car? If it does have a swap battery, do you know if they are using the Better Place pay per mile system?

They say the battery costs $10,000 and they will lease them. Not a single mention of Better Place or batt swapping in any Nissan news release.
