VW Golf R32 chasing Nissan GT-R at TWS 1-24-09

Trying to keep up with a GT-R at Texas World Speedway on 1-24-09 in the R32. The GT-R has an amazing sound as it passes me on the straight at the beginning.

Frank drives the red S2K, he has KWS variant coilovers and race tires I think. Has a Hondo racing suit, he's from Austin. He had his M5 up there last time instead to try it out. That thing felt crazy fast, but he said he's faster around the track in the S2K with its current setup.

I'm not sure what mods I want to put on the R32 yet. Maybe just some coilovers and better tires.

I'm not going to any events in Feb although Alex has signed up for MSR this month I think. I'm going to try and make the next event at TWS in March most likely. I don't have any of Frank's contact info, so I'm not sure if he'll be up at TWS this month or not. He wasn't too pleased with the stock tires on the M5 though since they were starting to lose grip near the end of his run sessions.

Yeah, Frank was saying he could consistently get 2:05 in his S2K, but it has suspension work, better tires, and is way lighter than the R32, so I dunno if 2:05 is possible in the R32. But anyway it was great getting a ride with you driving my car, thanks for showing me what it can do. If I can get to your skill level one day, I'd be quite happy about that!

Hey thanks for watching my vid! Yeah I got a little too excited on Turn 12 when I finally got solo'ed, I learned my lesson after that, regarding early turn-in!

I think I saw your R32 at the track, have you done any mods to it? I put an H&R rear sway bar so far and that's about it. My best time was 2:14 that weekend, but I'd really like to get in the 2:05 range eventually (is that possible with this car?) I think I'm only doing about 70 through T1, so I can probably gain some time there...

When I saw this I thought I would see my GT-R pass you, but I have never seen a white one at the track. He definitely has at least a midpipe in there - bone stock doesn't have that good a sound - I have a middy myself. I missed this event.

I had my best time of 1:56.6 on a partially damp track on 3-15 at the PCA HPDE. I am a novice yellow now and should shave a lot of time off that soon.

Good driving. I want to drive some old tech RWD cars to get my skills better. The GT-R spoils me..

hey, i just picked up a european car mag and it had a page with mods, suspension, ecu on your car. Maybe it help in reducing the time.

Is frank the one that drives the yellow s2k or the red one.

I dont have the r32, I drove your R32 in the red session. I was driving the white m3. I think you tried to time me driving your vehicle and it was around 2.15. If it is 2.15, then for sure you can cut down another 4 to 5 seconds. We drove your car at 60 percent, there's more to give.

Going down to 2.05 may be alittle tougher. But of course youre a much better driver than me. Take care.
