I first heard this tune on a recording by Dwight Diller. This is a fine modal tune which I like to take at an easy pace. It's a bit fast here since I wanted to fit three repeats into a file size acceptable by youtube!

  • Beware! The banjo is infectious. I watched a few of your videos and before I knew what was going on I got a banjo and I cant put it down.

  • Learning to play clawhammer banjo can change your life - it did mine. There is a rich tradition of wonderful old tunes and a large community of old time musicians with whom to share them. Enjoy the journey!

  • You have to be one of the best old timer clawhammer players here on youtube. I really enjoy your choice of songs you play as well. I think Old Roscoe would be proud of you.

  • Thank you so much - very generous of you to say such a thing!

  • tuning? anyone? sawmilll?

  • Yes, sawmill... mountain minor... gDGCD or aEADE. Something like that.

  • smooth pickin there, i like the drop thumb and the way you seem to keep time with a percussive thumb. amazing all around sound!

  • Timing n' technique are stellar... very tastefully done.

  • My Godfather played banjo with Pete Seger; your videos an music keep him alive in our home... we miss him but know there is banjo music in heaven.

Thanks for keeping this music alive, cut CDs and teach as many children as you can!

    Respectfully,

    The Colonel

  • @FrostyMorn That was me, oldsoulify and I'm still working on the banjo. Thanks again for posting such great videos.
