Virginia Opera welcomes audiences to its 35th Anniversary Season with the opening production of Puccini's "La Bohème" - one of the most popular operas in the world - for several performances during the month of October 2009. Virginia Opera performs at Norfolk's Harrison Opera House, the Carpenter Theatre at Richmond CenterStage and at George Mason University's Center for the Arts.

Enjoy the talented cast including soprano Veronica Mitina as Mimi, tenor Derek Taylor as Rodolfo, soprano Elizabeth Andrews Roberts as Musetta and baritone Eugene Brancoveanu as Marcello, as well as Virginia Opera's outstanding chorus and artists from the Spectrum Resident Artist Program. Stage director is Julia Pevzner and conductor is Virginia Opera's artistic director Peter Mark. The orchestra for this Virginia Opera production is provided by the Virginia Symphony Orchestra.   • Ha ha Marcello got a good smackaroo on the cheek! I like how this act ended though, like Marcello was thinking and wishing he knew or had the kind of love Rodolfo and Mimi have.
