  • how do i get this stuck in my mind so never forget??

  • @2amazingals lol repetition :)

  • does it sound funny if someone says "man azam astam"? do you use "man" in casual conversation?

  • @azam1346 no not at all Man is actually the formal way to say it its not pronounced like MAN in english but M-ah-n it sounds NICER :) but in EVERYDAY dari we usually would say Azam Astum or Namem Azam ast or even Ma Azam astum. Usually when you say Ast(um) the ending already IMPLIES your talking about urself so saying Ma / man is not necessary. I like how u use Man and Astam if this is how youve learned it keep using it :) like I said it sounds much nicer.

  • @azam1346 (part 2) : If your talking to people who also speak Conversational Dari and you don't hear MAN or ASTAM etc then you can use MA or Astum. I guess it depends on who your speaking to. Younger people might think your POSH but it isnt a BAD Thing :). Goodluck. Khuda hafez.

  • Formal: shoma chee maikuni? or shoma koojah mairee?

Tip: add shoma to a sentence for formality

  • @sw33t65 Shoma - is the word used for YOU but when you wanna be polite or formal and the ending you use when conjugating is -ayn so... Shuma chee maykunayn? Shuma koojah mayrayn? so just add -ayn instead of -ee because -ee is more for people who are e your friends so kinda INFORMAL Kooja mayree ? Chee maykunee? vs Shoma kooja mayrayn? Shoma chee maykunayn?

  • thx.......

  • You know what would be cool? Record a Teka card game played by the elders at an Afghan party and then break down the translation. I guess you could do the same for the woman's side but you'd have to bleep out the names of the innocent.

  • @CUcumberProject An alternative is: Listen - beshnow and See - bebbeen. It is a bit formal.

  • wow this is really helpful thank youu soooooo much!!!!
