@form109 It's cooler when you see all those number "roll" over. That just clicks over, nothing special I think.

@BoomBoy13 what do you mean?

I think I've seen this exact Olds still running. I see 1 or 2 of them every so often when I'm on the pike heading to/from work (Boston -> Framingham). I also have a '98 88. About to hit 140k miles. I think I'm the 3rd owner and it wasn't well taken care of. Everything under the hood is rusted, already lost the AC and had to replace all of the breaks and wheel bearings. It's an extremely roomy car and it's like driving a really comfortable couch. It also has no complaints flooring it.

my '93 88 just hit 140,000 kms last week :)

I think this 98 Olds 88 has the gen II 3800 and I think this was still the good one... certain models had issues, but I dont think the Olds 88 had the issue.

@palebeachbum - thats true, the gen 1 3800 (made up through 1994) was one of the best GM engines made... 1995 gen II 3800 started having issues and even recalls for fires on some models. :(

@palebeachbum They call it "proper lubrication" The 4.6 Northstar V8's in Cadillacs do the same thing. What I don't get is what is the oil properly lubricating when it is just going through the engine like any other car? haha what they won't come up with nowadays XD
Oldsmobile 88's are the most under-rated cars on the planet.

GM is still using the 3800, as in the Buick Lacrosse. Guess what? GM did more revising to it and they created a NEW major design problem. Now they burn oil in mass quantity. Was reading about it online. People with brand new ones are complaining of going through a quarts of oil between changes and when they told GM, GM said "it's normal". LOL
