Gate of Thunder (hack) longplay PC Engine / Turbografx

Longplay on Devil. The game is a hack I did a few years ago. Sorry, I'm just sooo used to the replacement tracks and ship graphics, that I always play this over the original GOT. Sacrilege, I know ;)

Off the cuff playing. Dieing here and there. Wasted a lot of continues on "Dark City" stages, thus the jump cut. Last stage was too impossible without power ups, so I replayed the game and included just the last level (thus the second and last jump cut).

Shmups like this have problems playing on youtube because they did a lot of bullets and objects in 60fps motion. 30fps of youtube means you loose out in only seeing half of them (or flashing or blinking). I've worked hard to get this blend but flicker oscillation method so you can see it all - and that you don't mistake it for just transparency (as simple frame blending can do).

Looks like you took some stuff from Thunderforce 3 or AC, correct?

@RyuHayabusa06 Almost all the tracks are from the TF5 gold pack bonus audio CD from the Saturn game. So there's TF3 and TF4 tracks in there.

The music is great and I love the little graphical touches you made, like the satellite weapons. How long have you been working on this? You should post this up on the pcenginefx forums.

@avenuePad Hey. Thanks :D The hack is very old. I was trying to put it up piece by piece on youtube, but now that they have the 1+hour limit - I just uploaded the whole thing. Feel free to post it over there for me, if you can :)

Hey, this is awesome! I haven't gotten into the original, but the touches you made probably would have hooked me hard core. I still love the original, I just haven't been that into shooters lately. Anyway, great work! I can appreciate the bullet sprite issue that you resolved very well.
