----------------------------------------
My Opinions: Finally a hollow handled knife that everyone who likes hollow handles can buy and depend on. Since it is made from a solid piece of 1070 steel, the blade will not snap off the handle. $250 cheaper than the Chris Reeves Project 1, it will not break the bank, and when you compare the destruction tests of each, it will not break as quick as the Chris Reeve's either.

Further testing to come on this next hiking trip.

Advantages:

+Solid 1070 steel construction
+Very cheap
+Not to handle heavy, less than expected
+Decent sheath, plastic liner
+Easily sharpened serrations
+Removable bit Driver in handle
+Handle is waterproof for use in storing fire gear
+Blade coating to avoid rust

Disadvantages:

-Retention strap a bit to loose, not enough to make it not usable, just to loose
-HEAVY (price you pay for a good hollow handled knife)
-Not as sharp as it could be out of the box

  • @grego63 You are the one that sounded pretty clueless actually...

  • I believe they are a high carbon steel type. Or at least, my one is. They rust easily. Good knives, horrible corner finishing, CR's knives have nice radii and probably wont chew out your hands as much as these. I also believe they switched production from China to Taiwan or vice versa. Not sure though.

  • @NDEFreak The steel is 1070 as stated in video (I believe) but at least as I put in the description. It came from Taiwan, I know as I was told this from Taylor Brands. I put all this in the description.

  • yeah hahahaha I had to go get it and look

  • @MrWer1138 It would be one of the steels bellow, as these are the stainless steels that Taylor Brands uses:

    AUS6, 4116, 1043, 440C, 440A, 420.

It is also possible that the SCHBT01 that you have has a different steel than someone else's that was made in a different batch or year. So it is impossible to say exactly what the steel is in any given knife that is sold, that is why they just say "stainless" (that is unless you send it to get tested)

  • @grego63 hey asswipe, some people do not like paying loads of money on a knife that they're going to use and abuse heavily in the wilderness. i have the Schrade SCHF1, and it's a damn good knife for the money. so screw you hater!!!!

  • Looks like somebody likes to play with his knife!!

  • A good item to put into the hollow handle of your survival knife is a swiss army knife with scissors, pliers, wood saw, metal saw, screwdrivers, punch/reamer, hook, chisel, etc. There are other things to put in the hollow handle to help in emergency situations: a cell phone, a stick of dynamite, a switchblade knife, brass knuckles, a grenade, a good book, a Playboy Magazine, a raw hot dog, a popsicle, jelly beans...the list is endless!!

  • @sexijayyyy cold steel bushman.

  • i got 1... was skeptical about buying it, but im very pleased and glad i did. the only thing is i do cary a smaller "poket knife" on me at all tiems as the blad of this knife is a little on the large side for fine cutting and skining/gutting small game and fish.

  • It looks a lot like a bayonet like what I used when I was in the service 30 years ago.

  • I personally think Schrade has gone down hill in quality since China bought them out .I prefer the american made knives

  • Wrap some paracord around the handle and problem solved considering loose strap retention. Up side: More friction, better handling, no more loose retention, extra easily accessible paracord 550. Down side: Bit more handle heavy but i can live with that

  • i got 1 and love it

  • @krazy4knives Hollow handle and survival knife are two things that never go together.

  • Great review dude! :D
