Xubuntu + Compiz-Fusion On Old Laptop

This is on my hp pavilion dv1000's bottom half, the upper half of the laptop has been destroyed but now this POS is back to life.

hey u guys think my sony vaio 1ghz 128 mb Ram can run Linux on it??? can it go faster than its going on xp right now???

Obviously there is an external monitor, but it's 128MiB.

How did you get compiz to work with Xubuntu? I've been looking around google and couldnt find anything to help me

I think you mean MB I have the Satellite 2100 and it has 65 Mb (2 of that is shared video mem) upgraded to 191 usable memory (Technicaly 193 mb) I doubt Compiz would run on 2mb of video memory

Can you give the specs on this old POS laptop?

If I can remember it was:
Processor: intel pentium mobile, 1.5ghz.
Graphics: intel GM915 integrated video.
Memory: 1gb

thanks, but that's not *really* a POS laptop then. My 2000 Toshiba Satellite is 900 Mhz with 128k RAM! I was hoping to find that Xubuntu (without Compiz--I don't need fancy desktops) would work ok with just that.

128kb or mb of ram? if it is 128 kilobytes I doubt you could even run xubuntu on that.
