This guy makes Dion look like a strong leader. The coalation was an embarassment to Canadian's and his lack newfound patriotism after snubbing Canada for years is dubious. The US republicans would have loved to be a part of budget planning, Ignatieff turns his back on the process; "not my problem!"
Ignatieff is NOT A LEADER

Ignatieff is against the Iraq war. He has said so many times, such as in a 2007 NY Times article. But desperate neocons keep repeating the same lies.

Harper shares the same ideology as Bush. The fundie religion, pro-war ranting, trashing the economy, dividing the country, the whole scummy bag of toxic garbage.

Ignatieff is more like Trudeau, Pres. Kennedy or Obama in ideology, and he's an expert on human rights. Iggy in Bush's party??? He's Canadian, idiot! Puntsok4 you need an education.

Jenchen Dion had no choice but to bow down. his party was going to force him out. So i wouldn't call that a graceful exit by any means..This is the same man the FIBS were supporting as their soon to be PM just a couple of weeks ago..loyalty & honesty really are not the FIBS forte

Your intelligent thoughtful second coming called Iggy supported Bush & the war in Iraq, he shares alot of the same ideology as Bush & I believe he was in Bushes party at one time..now the Fibs have their own Bush as their leader..PE Trudeau would be rolling over in his grave

I agree that what Harper proposed would have possibly killed democracy by eliminating the opposition parties, and that the coalition was the only thing to combat this, but if it was Dion, Layton, and Duceppe leading it, thats a scary thought. Ignatieff is the only one who could lead competently.Iggy said he's going to discuss the budget with harper first, but(as you just correctly pointed out)Iggy thinks that the numbers he sees might be fake. Basically,if Iggy sees bad stuff,he's going coalition.

Dion had the good grace to step down when Harper didn't. That three men stepped aside to let the deputy leader take the reins at least for this transition period they showed great loyalty and intelligence. The coalition had ethical, constitutional and legal grounds, and I thank them for preserving democracy from becoming a one party system and looking out for women's rights, while people who don't understand how the parliamentary system works cry "treason".
