The colonization of Macau was different. Portugal didn't conquer it by force, it was voluntarily offered by China as a gift. "Colonialism" isn't probably the best word to describe our presence in Macau, as the Portuguese authorities always recognized Macau as a Chinese territory, but with a Portuguese government.

Couldn't agree more! I am Portuguese but their marching compared to the Chinese or even the British in their Hong Kong Handover was really poor...but then again we are not a military nation...anymore!
