Just a short recording of me playing through a level of Alien Vendetta running the latest version of the Brutal Doom mod. The only mod which makes Doom even MORE like Doom. Through a variety of visual and audio tweaks, plus some slight rebalancing of weapons and enemy behaviour, it drags Doom into the year 2011 without hurting anything that truly defines it.

Headshots, chainsawing enemies clean in two, ludicrous gibs and the Berseker pack being made useful are just the tip of the iceberg. Not even the pistol is redundant now - replaced with a single-shot rifle, it's an accurate 'sniper' weapon with a respectable fire-rate, and the single-barrel shotgun now has the same power per shell as the double-barrel.

It's all good.

And yes, there is regenerating health, to a degree. An optional module lets you regen up to 36% health. Unarmored, that's enough to soak up ONE Cacodemon fireball or Revenant rocket. Anything bigger is instant death, so it basically just stops you from being stuck with 2hp with a hitscan enemy around the corner. Given that enemies are generally faster and more dangerous in this mod, it's a good balance.

Oh yeah, and apologies for the poor sound quality - I recorded it and encoded it in stereo, but forgot I was playing in 5.1 mode.

I'll likely do another Brutal Doom video later on, showing off the new melee system. The Berserker Pack lets you do Mortal Kombat-esque finishing moves on most smaller monsters. You're invulnerable while doing this, and it heals you a little on completion. There's also fast and heavy melee attacks.

@MadBones22 Doom with more aggressive enemies, new lighting/particle effects, and balanced weapons so that even the pistol isn't made redundant. And WAY more gore. Works with almost every level pack.
