"The people who took part in the Poll Tax rebellion are Working Class heroes"
Andy Murphy - Class War

The UK Poll Tax Riots were a series of mass disturbances, or riots, in British cities during protests against the Community Charge (commonly known as the poll tax), introduced by the Conservative government led by Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher. By far the largest occurred in central London on Saturday March 31, 1990, shortly before the poll tax was due to come into force in England and Wales.

The disorder in London arose from a demonstration which began at 11am. The rioting and looting ended at 3am the next morning. This protest is called the Battle of Trafalgar because much of the rioting took place in Trafalgar Square.

  • @Tzimnewman3 yup!

  • The say violance is not Democratic. I would agree if it was not for the Police using all the violance against un-armed people. Clearly Violance is part of a Democracy and violance can be used by the people if the Police and State decide to use violance on them.

If the Government did not like violance they should have not attacked un-armed people with weapons and horses. You can never use violance to stop violance. Don't think the police understand this yet.

  • @TheAk47666 Nothing changes there. Looking at the Student Protests the Media and Police try and make them look worse then it really is while the Police rush horses into people who were not using violance and hitting people over the head who were not fighting. The Public sector protests are next.

If I am in a protest and the police start beating me you better understand I will fight back. Wathcing the police actions here compared with today the only difference is they don't drive cars into

  • Thatcher and her pig soldiers started the unrest and it bit both of em in the arse and the News is so bent its unreal .It really changed the way I look at so called News programs because the way they report it is nothing to do with what happend at trafalgar square . HURRY UP AND DROP DEAD MAGGIE YOU CUNT!

  • We don't live in a democracy the elections are a sham that is why no matter who is in government the agenda of the elites remains the same.

When injustice becomes law, resistance becomes duty.

  • yet again the media got it wrong...never ceases to amaze me! same thing happened at the anti criminal justice bill march...there may have been a small element there to cause trouble, there always will be, it was an open march for all to attend after all...but the majority were there to make their point peacefully and we all got caught up in a horrible scary mess. I got trapped between a row of "rioters" and horseback police, got half a brick thrown at my back...saw a lot of blood that day.
