  • Hello, thank you for posting. I noticed that you have a photo of san francisco idomeneo with kasarova and bonney. This sounds like a wonderful combination. Do you have this performance or know where to find it? thank you again.

  • Hiya. I wish I have a recording of that show, too! :o) Have only been able to track down a recording from the LOC (Domingo, Kasarova, Vaness, Devia) instead. That run of Idomeneo at SFO got a slew of rave reviews. Would love to hear this number done with Kasarova and Bonney indeed. If I ever run into it I'll let ya' know. :o)

  • wonderful, but im going to be honest mariella devia is slightly miscast as ilia. although a voice can never be too rich, hers is almost too full for ilia in contrast to vaness. i feel maybe if you had a cold steely nilsson for elettra then devia would be a better foil. still a wonderful performance by wonderful singers.

  • No worries, bro. It's true. You can hardly tell Ilia apart from Elettra in this show. ;oP The performance I'd really love to get my hand on is from SFO in 1999 with Barbara Bonney as Ilia! :o)

  • Mariella Devia is one of my most adored Mozart sopranos. When I was playing violin at the Met, I loved her Constanza more than any other.

  • That's great. I hope that someone has a recording, it sounds like a wonderful cast.

  • Some critics think this was Mozart's most beautiful music. But I think that is a hard call - he wrote so much beautiful music.

    Great performance. Thank you.

  • Domingo, Kasarova, AND Vaness!!! AMAZING!!!!!

  • WOW!!
