Last year the City of Barga gave its highest honour, the Premio San Cristoforo d'Oro to the Lucchesi brothers. Named for Barga's ancient patron, Saint Christopher, the award is presented to celebrate extraordinary contributions to the town and its people. The brothers run one of the most successful bars and pasticerria in Barga Giardino in an area that was for many years run down and neglected. They opened their pasticceria 5 years ago in 2003 - that article can be seen here on the barganews.com site They have been instrumental in turning that area around. One of the most important factors in their success has been the fact that they make their own chocolate and pastries in their own bakery and specialist kitchens.
They start work at 3 in the morning and work through till dawn.
