Sgt. James Crowley Holds Post-Beer Summit Press Conference

Sgt. James Crowley says he had "a cordial and productive discussion" at the White House "Beer Summit" with President Obama and Professor Henry Louis Gates. He says he plans to speak to Gates via telephone to plan a future meeting at an undisclosed location - and it might be over a "Kool-Aid or iced tea" because having it over another round of drinks "would send the wrong message."

Professor Gates "has the credentials to enlighten me a little bit," Crowley adds.

When asked if there was an apology made, Crowley said no.

When asked what was accomplished today, Crowley answers: "A positive step in moving forward."

And when asked what Crowley learned from this "teachable moment," he said: "The media confines you no matter where you live."

He was also asked to comment on a letter from fellow Sgt. Leon Lashley, which Crowley said he has not received.
