Honda knows the difference between revision and improvement, and you can see the evidence in the 2009 Honda Pilot. It looks different, only the same. Or maybe it's the same, only different. But what you can't see are the dozens and dozens of places within this utility package where the Honda engineers have fiddled with the details.

It's easy to imagine the Honda engineers swarming over the 2009 Honda Pilot, relentlessly improving space-efficiency, utility, fuel economy and performance. It is the Honda Way, the thorough refinement of a mechanical device into a form that is supremely functional, pure and simple.

Only these particular Honda engineers are a bunch of guys from Ohio at Honda R&D Americas, and they've tried to make the 2009 Honda Pilot into the right kind of crossover for Americans.

  • @LQQKnATu i know it looks kinda boxy but in person its

    really good looking.

plus its one of the few of the crossovers in its class that seats 8.

and 85-87 ft of cargo space!!

  • @kemcho12345 I think it's pretty good..... it really improves stop-and-go fuel economy, much better than other SUV's of its class; even though it's rated about the same by the EPA, in the real world, it's much more efficient.

  • awsome. i have the older generation and i love it, but this one is even better. A+

  • @kemcho12345 the cylinder management is hard to notice it goes to 4 cylinders when barely pushing the gas. but with that 3.5L I-VTEC engine that thing will pull. pretty strong for a cylinder management car. i like it. and the mileage is pretty amazing for a V6 3.5L. my IL5 chevy colorado gets way worse gas with one less cylinder.

  • I think the new look is preferable to the old look.

  • Anyone here who drives new Pilot with "cylinder management" technology? Is this where 2 (or 3) cylinders are switched off, if not needed?

I want to know what do you think about it; like it or hate it?

  • all of you making negative comments, either got stuck with an older model, or just has not driven it yet. Your just bitter.

I got one, and its great!!!!

I like where the gear shifter is!!! I like the extra storage the middle console gives me.

Its a great to have when you have 4 kids and two still in booster seats.

I looked at other suvs and choose this, it just drove more solid than the tahoe, or explorer

  • Actually I found out this was a unibody. I thought it was a body on frame. I think thats why its a crossover.

  • hi!! i think is because of the 3 seat row. no??
