I wouldn't have considered Chuck Barris the Father of reality TV. I mean..most of the stuff he did was groundbreaking. I would definitely consider him a major contributor to game shows.

Reality TV was created more by TV executives that wanted a cheaper way to make TV shows and not have to pay writers.

The problem with your logic is that you are trusting a man in show business completely to his word without any evidence. I could just as easily say I worked for the CIA, and they sent me on a special mission to the moon, and I would have the same credibility as he does. Whilst what you say is true, they wouldnt admit anything, you shouldnt just start believing his story. You have to look at what story is most likely true, in this situation without evidence is he didnt work for them
