Dick Cavett's monolog from February 21, 1973. Dick used the phrase "an influx of suckers". I'm convinced that Jean Stafford heard that phrase. Because 5 years later, Jean wrote a short story called AN INFLUX OF POETS. A story which Dick himself praised on one of Dick's shows.

  • I'm 26 and i watch allot of Dick Cavett, Carson (ofcourse) and Tom Snyder and such here on Youtube and i gotta say i can see why these shows were a reason to turn your television set on back in the old days.. The problem with tv nowadays is the more shows you see the more reasons you see to turn the bloody thing off..

  • Funny dig at 3:54: "How would YOU do a joke with a fire siren outside?" I remember a Thanksgiving 1978 episode of "Pyramid" that Dick Clark had just barely gotten started when the infamous siren went off.
