Backstage with Paul Colman from the "Newsboys"

Their music is played on radio stations throughout the country. The group chose their name because of its meaning.

"We are the Newsboys. It's in our name. We bring the good news. A news boy was a kid who stood in the middle of the city, as high as he could and as loud as he could and preached the headlines to get people to listen and that's what we do," explained lead guitarist Paul Colman.

As with any major production, there is an insurmountable measure of work that goes into putting on one of their concerts. Christian recording artists, the Newsboys have one of the most elaborate shows among all of the musical shows traveling throughout not only the United States but across the globe. This is much more than music as lead guitarist, Paul Colman passionately explains.

"Every night I'm out there, I don't think about the music I think about the people. Music has been the vehicle that has gotten me to people. When you're with the same people everyday, when you're singing music that is designed and written to glorify God to give Him credit. When you spend everyday reading The Word and it flushes out your mind. I listen to Peter our lead singer, talk every night. I listen to what he says every night. I pray the prayer that he leads the audience in every night. I find that being in this environment helps me keep my focus. On my own, I can't keep my focus," Paul said.

All four members of the group are the sons of Christian pastors. Each and every one of them not only sing of their love for Jesus Christ but it is in each and every one of their souls and brought out in their music and concerts.

Paul continues, "Probably the most popular Newsboys' song is 'He Reigns'. It came out of travel to Africa, travel to China, travel to Europe; it came out of these places. It's the song of the redeemed rising from the African plains. We've been on the African plains, we have sung with people in Africa. We have worshipped with people in Africa. We don't sit around and think about how to get as many 'Jesus'' in per minute in one song. We write about what we're interested in. To me, the songs are like arrows. They fire in at people's hearts and why do we even write them? Partly is for self-expression. And we get to thinking that maybe through a song God's going to touch someone and He's going to let them know that He loves them. That's such a privilege to be a part of that."

Thanks for your reply. God is really ministering to me right now through Paul's music. I can feel my heart lifted and softening at the same time.... All I have done the last few weeks is find more music of Paul's and PC3 and every one of them is such a blessing. I can't wait to one day meet him in person. And you feel like you can just go up and talk to him. I admire him and yet he comes accross as just a regular guy.... A lot like I imagine Jesus was when he walked the earth....

I agree, I love Paul. He's got the fun personality, yet he is deep when he talks about God. He's just got it all. Most of all, he is very comfortable just being himself. Of course I love Pete too, and Duncan, an Jeff, they are all very cool, and the music man.... it's awesome.... but there is something about Paul.....

WE need to sing JESUS all the time. Lots of people do not know JESUS CHRIST personally so introducing the Messiah is KEY! GOOD NEWS: JESUS died for our sins; he is our Redeemer & Savior & the world needs to know that JESUS CHRIST is real!! FYI: Every time I sing JESUS, JESUS, JESUS, his spirit comes....
