Are hollers now paved? Have cable /satellite TV / internet? Collect food stamps? Inside plumbing? Democrats?

I have not heard of Rush, KY. However, I have frequent Ashland, KY and despite what many think of the state and people. KY
is a beautiful state (as is Ashland, KY) with alot of history and some great people.

i've lived in KY my whole life, in Lexington and a couple of years in Louisville but I have never been to Pikeville or Pike County for that matter
Don't think they're paved yet but they do have satellite dish. I dunno about the plumbing. From what I understand most of them are Democrats.

Thanks. Never heard of Rush but I've been to Ashland several or more times. Very interesting places...

It's in southern, KY near Williamson, WV. I've been to Lexington & Louisville. I remember being in Louisville once in the 70's & seeing the tall clock tower that was in Indiana from there & seeing it was on a different time zone. That was confusing to me lol...

That's neat you live there. Sadly my hubby passed on due to a heart attack March 3, so he'll never be going back to Tierney Holler again. I'm glad I got to take him there one last time. He also lived in Stone & Meathouse too and maybe another Holler around Canada, KY I think.

Thanks for the info. My hubby was probably too young to have known him as hubby was born in 1951. Very interesting tho. My hubby thinks his dad could've known him but we're not sure as his dad passed on in 1985.

It's the Pond Creek Reunion up in Prestonsburg. I had no idea there was a Varney reunion. My late mother-in-law was a Varney. I'll have to ask my hubby if he's ever heard of the Varney reunion...
