I can understand other rappers wanting to hype a fellow MC (especially as legendary & influential as Mele Mel), but who wrote the genre changing "The Message." Grandmaster Flash & the rest of the group initially wanted nothing to do with the controversial song. Two sides of the story from 2 documentaries.
By the way, for those who say this presented a blueprint for future gangsta rap, Mel talks about the thug ending up in prison, as somebody's ho & ending it in suicide. There's none of this irresponsible glorification that you have now.
