  • Communism is long gone! And it is not a treath anymore!

  • Truman is saying that you can't defeat an idea by turning the US into a police state.

  • Harry Truman stood up to the segregationists on the right in his party (Strom Thurmond) and to the Communist appeasers on the left in his party (Henry Wallace) as well. Truly one of the greats.

  • Hear, hear! Long live the Bill of Rights.

  • And by not do those things, Mr. President, you will win in the end! Thank you!!!!!!

  • I take it your family were not Poles, Czechs or Hungarians. There are also Germans who think life was good under the Third Reich. I once watched a documentary in which some old hausfrau was asked about life under Hitler and she fondly remembered dressing up as Madame Pompadour in a parade (seriously!). I have nothing but contempt for people who have happy thoughts about totalitarian governments.

  • The United States is superior to all......but those who give up their freedoms for safety, deserve neither! The USA must stop taking our precious freedoms from us on a regular basis. It's amazing how our republic is designed to stand through all Presidents no matter what an immature ass may think of one or two in particular!

  • I meant to say China.

  • Sure many Russians agree. I know many of them. But I know numerous Russians with another opinion (for ex economists and historians.) Fact: Russian economy was totally broke by the 1980s. It was impossibility to survive the armament race with the United States. Due to stupid military spending since the Breznev years the USSR and Gorbachev had no choice but to promote glasnost and perestroika. Who would have preferred large-scale famine?! Hardly any sane human being!

  • How can you say that? Ask any Russian, Gotbachev sold out our country. He is a traitor and no leader.

  • Perhaps the life was good for some people, true. On the one hand, ask the same question from those whose ancestors had a rough time with Stalin. Death toll might have impressed even the Nazis! P.S. All the respect to Gorbachev, there was a leader.
