you could see that Jimmy was already dead. he didn't move. he wasn't afraid. he was quiet inside. he was empty. After the war he was just a vessel, with no emotions inside.

@emac3232 Hey it takes a man to say what you did. I'm a combat veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan and this scene got to me.

this final scene is mostly poetry than just film making. i must say i felt shocked and amazed at the same time. jimmys line "i died on the trench many years ago" will always be a top moment of the series. i trully believe that the whole thing is a masterpiece.

We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields.

@TheVenturino123 The worst war ever, no possible doubt about it.

@Legate1987 Reread everything that was said. That way you can find out for yourself how stupid you really are.

world war 1....what a waste of lives....a complete pointless war that was fought for the dumbest reasons ever....fucking banks and corporations was getting the best of it out of this war...to think that it was fought b/c "Germany was a threat to freedom" is SO stupid...very sad story
Even as a 28 year old man, I'm not ashamed to say this scene almost brought me to tears. If he was ever going to die, i couldn't have imagined his thoughts being anything else.

IMO best scene of the series. I love how his last thought was of him climbing out of the trenches. Just like he told Nucky, he died there a long time ago.
