Alright this is a compiled video of me making my third ocarina.
unfortunately it's been so long since I actually made this ocarina I forgot most important things I wanted to say about it!
Well the obvious first, it's a 4 hole starting in D4 that plays one full octave...I think.
I'm not sure because I can't play a four hole ocarina yet, I'm just assuming this because of the guide I'd followed to tune it.
I think I may have misunderstood the tuning guide for a four hole/pendant ocarina because I'm sure I'm a little off!
I made this ocarina with the clay left overs from the first two ocarina I'd made.
I just took all the slack clay and put it in a very moist bag.
so I only had a small amount to work with and not a lot of time so small was good!
After I had it fired I've just been so busy and didn't have a proper vid editor so I couldn't make this.
But now I've got a good app, and had some extra time so I wanted to share!

The background music got a little mixed up but that's alright, you can still understand me!
The tracks used were, in order;
32 Leaves - Never Even There
Disturbed - Prayer

This ocarina was painted after firing, using FolkArt #661 Metallic Sequin Black with a top clear coat of clear protective hardening nail polish. (Worked Awesome!)

Again with this ocarina, along with being improperly tuned, the higher notes get airy/squeaky.
I believe I'm on the road to fixing that! We'll find out when I get my next 2 ocarinas back from being fired!

Let's hear your opinions in the form of comments and ratings Please and Thank you!!!!
Take it easy guys!

  • its a lefty i made one of those once

  • How do you make the sound hole whistle?

  • @x511100x Yeah it wasn't that great but the fact that it was my 3rd attempt, I was happy with it and keep the video up to show my progress. Now my ocarinas are much better and also tuned. I actually have videos up to show my works, unlike you, who claims to make good ones. Until you actually have something on here to prove you make them, maybe you shouldn't talk big.

Also, maybe you shouldn't be rude about it anyways. If I see someone make a "low quality" oc, I give tips. Not be an ass.

  • Hey man no worries, no need to appologize, I always like talking about this stuff anyways. I see it looks like you're looking into making your own ocarinas?

  • I can see you didn't read the description or listen to what I said around 6:30. It wasn't actually glazed. It was only bisque fired and then painted using an acrylic paint with clear, hardening nail polish for the clear coat. it was a tedious "paint" to work with but it looks really nice.

  • @massieko

its like a yellowy clay and goes hard if you cook it

(rock hard and its not eddible)

so like hardening clay but a bit harder to mould

  • That's freaking awesome. You made a beautiful piece and you're playing disturbed in the background. nice. very nice.

  • Well first off, that was pretty faint, I'm surprised you heard that but no, no orgasming during making my ocarina =p that was the wife half ass laughing at something...couldn't say what because this was months ago

  • 1:48 - 1:50 orgasm girl?? :S

  • what kind of clay did you use? the ocarinas you make are very smooth good job

  • Maybe get in touch with Schwessie here on Youtube. She makes a bunch of ocarinas and might be able to help you with the high note tuning problem. She says she's meaning to put up some instructional videos eventually.

  • hey it looks great this wasa cool vid to watch i hope tosee more of them.
