Rocky the 11-year old banned snakehead fish is getting a reprieve from the Department of Environmental Conservation. In this video Rocky's owner Chris Deverso of Clay explains how the DEC has asked him to apply for a special permit that would allow him to keep his 28-inch pet fish. Previously the DEC said they would seize and destroy the invasive species, which has been illegal to own in NYS since 2004.

  • @RNB123abc what a stupid question of course they aren't, they're fucking goldfish. I'm just saying that there are species of fish that are way more harmful to the environment then the Snakehead. For ex. the Asian carp is poised to infect the entire great lake system, and are they banned, No. The Snakehead was over publicised by the media, which fed blantant lies that they eat dogs and cats. I will now say that i hate you and that im smarted than you, so kindly FUCK OFF.

  • @RNB123abc thats one fatass cousin you got. i'd give him a big mac then beat the shit out of you

  • There are over 30 varieties of the "Channa" fish family. They range on size from dwarfs only growing to 4 inches all the way up the scale to the Giants which can grow to 3ft. Most of the variants have been kept in community tanks ( with care ). They are great fish to keep with pike like character. Vast majority require tropical water conditions and could not survive in most of America.

  • Another proof our govt. Sticks its nose where it shouldnt. But I see where they dont want them set lose. The midwest usa is bein takin over by asian carp. bad .

  • not look like giant snake head @@

  • Love Rocky, he's awesome... what type of Snakehead is he? I'm lucky enough to live in a place where they are legal and have a Chevron Snakehead, he's only a couple months old though and still only a few inches long... can't wait for him to get big like Rocky :)

  • he looks small for his age had 2 my self 3 years old much bigger that him but nice fun fish with attitude

  • Rock on dude. We shouldn't be restricted on the things we love and enjoy because of other idiots who don't know how to handle things. If these are "so bad to keep" what is with others like pirana, gar, sharks? Keep fighting, I think you are doing the right thing.

  • @1991Boarder24 screw you, they're beautiful fish, i have a northern snakehead, they are amazing and way more fun than a dog or some fucking cat

  • Don't care for them. They are ruining the waters for fisherman. Double points for killing them.

  • kill the fucker!

  • Thank God I live in the Philippines where snakeheads aren't so overpublicized and are legal to keep as pets. But seriously, how can a snakehead pose a threat if itsin an aquarium? And by the way, how is Rocky now?
