MJK has also said many-a-time that when he stands toward the back, he hears everything better with more clarity. I don't know if any of you have played on stage with a band, but you can't actually hear anything clearly and it's difficult to keep your place. That and the whole "this band is not my ego, but all four of us" thing. It's not because he hates you. I promise.

Bands refer to it as LSD. Lead singer's disease. When the frontman thinks that he's above the band, and inevitably the band fails. Maynard repeatedly says that he is just 1/4 of TOOL and every member is equally important. I think of TOOL as a machine. God forbid anything happen to any of them, they would never be quite the same. They are in the top 3 live bands of all time. I happen to think they are the best live act but there is no denying that they are in the top 3.
