  • Square root both sides:

    (x+y)-(x-y)>/=+/-5 Y cannot be negative, as the inequality shows, therefore:

    (x+y)-(x-y)>/=5

    Simplify:

    x+y-x-(-y>/)=5 : 2y>/=5 : y>/=2.5

    I thought that method would be much easier and more time efficient.
