@AlvinHDavernport ==> even though my vision of it totaly changed after that trip. I just think, for a developed country like US is, one of the richest in the world, its government cares too little about its people. Of course Im not saying here is like paradise, but we're still a much poor nation when compared to the US. Shouldn't it, with such a huge GDP spend more money with public services like heathcare and high-education? I just don't think privatizing everything is the right thing to do.

The thing is that outside US ppl don't really care about what the US is in the inside, they care about how the US affects their countries, and their oppinion about it is formed in this basis. It's just a sad way to see other nations, but it also happens with Brazil (my country) in some cases.

The only way to really see a country is spending some time there with its natives. I had to opportunity to do that in the US, and still I wouldn't live there, ==>

You speak as if our country were 90% foreign policy and 10% what people are actually like. No. Foreign policy is a small facet of our country. What you saw in your visit to Chicago, THAT is the real United States. So when you say "the U.S. sucks," I can't help but be offended, since we're so much more than just an invading force ;)

@AlvinHDavernport And yes, Ive been to the US once and spent four weeks in Chicago. I really wasn't expecting the people to be as nice as they were and the city's one of the best I’ve ever visited.

Do you get what I mean? United States doesn't suck for what it is, it sucks for what it does to other countries. Bush just managed to make it in the worst possible ways.

Again: I love Chicago, I just wish it was I little further in north... in Canada! XD Just kidding* US still alot better than China

@AlvinHDavernport Oh... that was a very stupid comment of mine... so you didn't get my point. What Obama had done in the beginning of his presidency was kind of apologizing for Bush Era which was marked by disaster after disaster in the diplomatic area. This posture had changed in the past two years, cuz Obama saw its almost impossible to be reasonable all the time when you're the president of US, but still, I think he was right to apologize about all the crap Bush’s done.
